Underway Stabilization: Comfort While Cruising

Underway stabilization simply means roll damping while cruising. It is the capability owners use most hours of the year, on every crossing, every coastal leg and every windy afternoon home. So it is where a stabilizer earns its keep or does not.

Many stabilization approaches only become effective at higher speeds. Displacement yachts live at lower ones. RotorSwing rotors close that gap: powerful roll damping starts at just 3 knots, because the spinning rotor creates its own pressure difference rather than depending on speed alone. At the top of the range, the patented Adaptive Rake function automatically angles the rotors to reduce drag and power consumption, keeping maximum stability up to 16 knots without retraction or loss of speed.

Nothing else changes about how the yacht sails

A stabilizer should remove movement, not add complications. Underway, that means three things:

  • No steering effect. The system maintains a perfectly straight course, without introducing unwanted steering forces.

  • Fully retractable. Zero drag when the system is off, and safe docking in marinas.

  • Fuel efficient. The Rake function reduces fuel consumption at higher cruising speeds.
